In motor boats and power boats where engines form a substantial part of the total vessel value, propulsion engines should be surveyed by an approved marine engineer, both statically and under load. Running under sustained load (smoke production) is recommended to assess the engine condition without opening it up. On power boats we strongly recommend lubricating oil analysis. This can help to determine internal condition and in conjunction with the other tests we carry out, offers the best means of assessing your engine without stripping it down. Engine Trials: Upon client's instruction static or sea / river trials are conducted by arrangement where the engine's overall performance and operation can be assessed - the engine is run up to access its general operational characteristics, vibration levels, cooling water flow etc - this service is usually subject to a small additional fee For more detailed information please click on the link "diesel engine inspection" You may not need a full report - just some advice, expert opinion or guidance on a particular problem or assistance with such as a disputed account from a repairer or boat builder etc. You may need advice in support of threatened or proposed litigation - EMS can talk for you.
